Hi Sergey,
I bet you thought I forgotten this thread - I didn't. I got stuck on doing some real work, and then I did searches on a couple systems (and backup tapes) for the code. I exchanged some email with Glenn D, and even tried to recreate the problem with some code. Finally I broke down and searched the UT <g>, and found that this discussion originally started in thread #599437 between Gregory Adam and Glenn D back in December 2001. Obviously at one point I figured out how to prove it to me, but I still haven't come up with a way to prove it to you! So since I know using the API calls work, and I've got control over releasing that potentially "lost" file handle, at least I feel good about it!

>>VFP 6.0 SP5 and VFP 7.0 (tech preview) - I hadn't thought of it till you mentioned sys(2000). I actually got the tip from Glenn Domeracki back then, and I believe he reported it. But as you are kindly implying, I should have re-checked this on the newer version(s) before reporting it as a potential problem - thanks for keeping me honest. I'm off to find that test program!
