I don't know of the trick you're trying to remember, but I do see your quandary, which is that since 'A' is a recognized format code it won't be interpreted as a literal.

You could keep stuffing it after every keystroke, in KeyPress. Or you could stuff it at the end, in Valid. I don't know of a way to specify it in the properties.
