I have a client who runs a Novell 3.1 network. We installed a windows 2000 standalone server running SQL Server. The Windows 2000 server has an update directory that each workstation has to map to. It has a fixed IP address and there is no domain controller. There is a read-only user account with permissions to the update directory.
On windows 2000 workstations, when a connection to the update directory is created, the system prompts the user for the user id and password. This works great!
On Windows 98 workstations, when a connection to the update directory is created, the system apparently sends the user id and only is asking for the password. The problem is that the user id is the novell userid and is not created on the windows 2000 server.
Is there a way when mapping a drive in windows 98 to automaticly pass a fixed userid and password, or have it prompt for the userid and password.
Thanks in advance
