Naoto (and others) -
Thanks for the thoughts. I too have a habit of adding WAIT CLEAR before all of my WAIT WINDOWS (especially since in the FPW days a multiline WAIT WINDOW would cause strange displays). But that's not the problem.
Actually we've done more testing and it looks like there's something wrong with the server or the OS installation. Behavior similar to the WAIT WINDOW TIMEOUT not actually timing out has been noticed in a few places. For example, if you bring up the explorer and select a folder from the tree view, you will NOT see the files contained in that folder on the right-side pane unless you click in it or start working the menu. Seems it needs a little "push" similar to what I reported seeing with the WAIT WINDOW TIMEOUTS. Ditto for when you enter Control Panels.
So it very much looks like a server (hardware) or OS installation problem. Makes sense, as obviously WAIT WINDOW TIMEOUT has been around for a year or two and is relatively reliable! <g>
I'll post information if an actual cause is found. My guess is there will be an OS reinstallation to fix the problem.
Cheers!
