I have used some of DBI's controls for several years but I haven't manipulated the print job during printing like what you are wanting to do. Are you starting and stopping the print job yourself or are you simply calling a method of the DBI control? You may not have the printer open at the time you are calling either of the two methods you are trying to use and that could cause a hang.
