I would have him go to a dos window, change to the appropriate directory and type:

attrib -h -s -r *.* /s

That will flag all files in that directory (and subdirectories) as readwrite, nonsystem, nonhidden.

I don't know if this is the same situation, but I have actually had this happen in XP where I could only change the read only attribute from a dos window until I could get there onsite and find out what was wrong with the user's profile on that machine that kept creating readonly directories and files.

>I have a client change to windows xp pro and restore is backup from a CD to his computer, and when they try to edit the the record error message "can not update cursor", had the user go to the folder where the data is and open up the folder select all the files and make sure the files were not marked as ready only, they were not, so I had the user marked the files as ready only and apply the new setting and then go back in to that folder and highlight all the files and uncheck the read only files and apply, just to make sure all files did not have a read only. This still did not help, the only thing I have notice is the folder is marked as ready only and if we try to change the folder from ready only to make it not read only, when we go back and look at this folder it still marked as ready only, but the files are not mark as ready only. I need help ASPA the client can not work and I have done all I can do, I have talked to the computer person and he has no Ideal what to do. Help
