If a user creates the folder, then it shouldn't be readonly to that user - but it might be to other users.

>I was telling them about the rights also, I know for the most part if you don't have rights in win 2000 it want let you make the change and in this situation it letting the user make the change and when you re-boot the computer goes straight to the desk top not an option to log in as administrator. I have a question if you create a folder in windows xp pro the folder that has been created will it be flag has read only, the reason I ask I had the user created a folder and the folder was marked as read only. That blew me out of the water.

>>>I have a client change to windows xp pro and restore is backup from a CD to his computer, and when they try to edit the the record error message "can not update cursor", had the user go to the folder where the data is and open up the folder select all the files and make sure the files were not marked as ready only, they were not, so I had the user marked the files as ready only and apply the new setting and then go back in to that folder and highlight all the files and uncheck the read only files and apply, just to make sure all files did not have a read only. This still did not help, the only thing I have notice is the folder is marked as ready only and if we try to change the folder from ready only to make it not read only, when we go back and look at this folder it still marked as ready only, but the files are not mark as ready only. I need help ASPA the client can not work and I have done all I can do, I have talked to the computer person and he has no Ideal what to do. Help
