In a full enhancement of our sites which has begun in late 2002, we adjusted the Universal Thread to respond better as per new enhancements and in regards to the feedback received over the years. So, as many of you have seen, because of the enormous amount of content, we splitted the Universal Thread in several sites such as the main site, the Visual FoxPro Zone, the Magazine, the Onsite Coverages, the User Group Meeting Tracker and the .NET Zone. This has provided several enhancements such as speed loading and better ability to locate faster specific content as per the current site. By the same, we adjusted the layout to get rid of the drop down menu as too many support issues have been initiated over the years and the most recommended approach was to offer visually the options without having to drop down.

This change of infrastructure took place since last 2002 and it has been a great success so far. The only missing item not translated to this new design is the main page. Basically, this link:

http://www.levelextreme.com/Index2.asp

is an overview of how the main page could look like framed into this new layout. You'll see, it's exactly the same as any other page from any other of our sites we have adapted. It's the same as before with the banner on upper right, news centered, etc. The only big change is the elimination of the drop down menu replaced by the left side menu used on the site since a few months now.

We took the occasion to fine tune the login area to provide a better exposure. Also, as this is the main page of the main site, we put on top (as the actual design is already including) the site circles to navigate to other Universal Thread sites. A small addition is the permanent exposure on the right side to rapidly access anyone of the last two issues of Universal Thread Magazine with a summary of content. We also fine tuned a few issues with Netscape.

The only think missing at this point is a small animation in our logo (so as it is actually) and a small adjustement for Netscape to properly align some content in the login area.

Let us know your feedback on Index2.asp as to what else you would like to have added in it and related topics.
