Seems like this is a hot topic in the last couple of days... There were few threads with the similar content. I guess, some frameworks have this feature... There was an article in June 2001 UT Mag by Robert Pierce, there is a class in Downloads section called Grid Saver and I also know, that Vlad G started to work on really generic class.

Where is Vlad, BTW? I didn't see him for several weeks... You may try to contact him and check the status...
