Joesph, create a menu option that calls a "shutdown" program. This program should clean up the environment, close your files, release library's, and so forth. It should then issue a CLEAR EVENTS command.
Clicking the close window button (top right of the main window) will activate whatever routine was set up in the ON SHUTDOWN command. Therefore, your ON SHUTDOWN command would point to the shutdown program mentioned above. Your menu option would point to the same program.
