I was running McAfee Home and Zone Alarm. All my other installations which work perfectly run the same configuration although they run older versions of McAfee (6.0 I think).

I uninstalled McAfee and installed NAV - I left Zone Alarm untouched. The system then worked perfectly.

A couple of years ago it was NAV which gave problems - now its McAfee!!
