>>The US has denied these rights and many more to the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.

>I too am concerned about the rights of the prisoners at Guananamo. I do not know what the legal justification is, if any. However, the prisoners at Guantanamo are not U.S. citizens. I believe the guy known as the American Taliban, John Walker Lynde (sp?), was given those rights.
At this time, Chris, the laws are whatever Secretary Ashcroft deems them to be for any specific instance.
Only yesterday that Padillo (sp?) guy was granted right to see a lawyer and that is to be fought by Justice.
Last month a Canadian citizen of Syrian origin was on his way from Ottawa (I think) to Europe via New York. He was removed from the plane, detained for a long while (weeks I think) then deported to Syria. Syria!!! A Canadian citizen who entered U.S. from canada!!!
Whatever Secretary Ashcroft feels today is you constitution today!
