Hi Richard,
>Has anyone out there interfaced VFP with the accounts package NAVISION, now in the microsoft family.
Well I tried the 2.6 version (I believe) about one and half year ago. Navision is terrible limited with regards to data exchange. There is a ODBC driver available for the native Navision database, but I did not manage to get a stable connection. It does only support the core level (very basic SQL). We ended up in writing extra procedures in NF to check for delemited ASCII files for input and outpunt of data.
On the other side. There is a Navision Financials version available which uses a SQL - Server backend. This way you can easely connect via any compatible SQL-Server ODBC driver.
I can imagine that much has been changed in this one and half year since I last worked on it. You migth check some specific Navision sites (e.g.
www.Navision.com). There were also some other specific Navision sites, but I forgot the adresses. You may find some more on Google.
>Alternatively does any one know of a UK accounts module available in VFP. I have a client who uses our CRM package and would like to use the same vendor database in an accounts package ( which I don't want to write!)
You might try:
http://www.accountview.co.uk/Which is a lot cheaper than Navision and totally written in VFP and easy extendable (From the reactions I get, it's a really good accounting package, esspecially for those who want to extent it with VFP).
Walter,
