I remember a while back that David Frankenbach had a similar problem, and he tracked it down to the fact that the last thing he did prior to quitting (oXl.Quit()) was to set a cell's value. He felt at the time that for whatever reason, excel possibly had not 'committed' that value, and so was remaining in memory.

He solved it by querying the value of a different worksheet cell before quitting. Apparently that solved his problem.

Any chance this might be what you're running into?

I tried several different lines of code in several different variations to no avail. I have come to the conclusion that the problem is Office 2000. By dumb luck I happen to run the program on a computer that had Office XP (My computer has Office 2000). The program worked perfectly. Without changing code I then ran the program on my machine. My computer had the invisible Excel open. I then ran the program on a machine that had Office 97. The program worked perfectly. I even installed the most recent service pack from Microsoft. It still did not help.
