I have seen similar issues with infinite refresh loops, especially as you report the error is 90% in the refresh method.

Eg you have two controls in a form. Control1 has some code "Control2.Refresh", and control2 has some code "Control1.Refresh".

Different versions of Foxpro are more or less susceptible to this issue.
