I never encountered this. Is it on the same machine? You might check antivirus, processor load (that is, other running programs), etc.
If it is on the same machine, perhaps your RAM gets overloaded if you keep VFP open and also try to run the EXE independently. However, this should only happen if you have relatively little RAM.
