Could someone please help me with this problem? I have a client for some reason that does not use account numbers, but the names of the clients. Since the clients names tend to get long, it become really dumb after awhile. Basically, they export their quickbooks data to an excel spreadsheet. I then import the data into a table. I check to see if the customers being imported already exist in our database. I have to create internal accounts numbers from the name. I thought that checksum-ing the entire name and then tacking the first six letters of the name and the first five digits of the checksum - that everything would be already. However, I have come to find out that is not the case. Would anyone know of a solution because I cannot convince these people to create account numbers on their end. Thanks for any help!!
