What is your connection string? Usually if you put uid= and pwd= in it, then you are connected with sql authentication. If you don't do this, even though your DSN is set to sql login, it still seems to try to use NT authentication to make the inital connection.

After you get the error, do you then get a SQL login screen. That is usually what I get when we have this issue. (Although in VFP not access.)
