I am very involved in security within our organization, and you can imagine that security is a priority with us!
I gave presentations within our company on data security for software developers. I even wrote an article in Code Magazine on Cryptography and gave a couple of presentations to user groups on this issue too. You do not have to convince me.
Unfortunately, the appeal it has with many developers is exactly as you said. I proposed this subject for a session in EssentialFox was voted down. Hopefully this view will change.
