Correct. "excel.application.9" for Excel 2000 and "excel.application.11" for the new Excel 2003 Beta.

o=createobject("excel.application") would return the latest version you have installed.

As Hillmar pointed out

o=createobject("excel.application")
? o.Name, o.Version, o.Build

would tell you what you have.
