Yes, I'm sure in my feelings that oil has a LOT to do with this war.
I don't know about religious prejudice. What I do feel is that the religious right, a strong voice in the current U.S. administrations, DOES have some religious 'objectives' and that this war suits them so people (religious leaders) who should normally oppose war are not only silent but in fact pleased with events as they are unfolding.
