Michelle,

I don't think you have any problem with keeping any version installed EXCEPT VFP7 and then only if you buy the upgrade as opposed to the full product.

If you buy the full product then the EULA section on "Upgrades" does NOT apply so there is nothing then forcing you (to stay legal) to use VFP8 'in a reasonable time' or to UNinstall VFP7 once VFP8 is installed.

Even if all of your previous versions were UPGRADES, they can be kept on your system(s) - except VFP7 and ASSUMING it is the basis of your upgrade - if you buy the upgrade to VFP8.

As you probably saw, I think this STINKS and is only aimed at BOTH lining MS' pockets even more AND making criminals out of many prior VFP license owners.

I hope this clarifies... and there has been nothing from MS suggesting that there has been or will be a change to VFP8's EULA.

>My reason for posting is that we do custom Pro Series work, which means we need to have nearly every FoxPro and VFP version available to use. So far, we've been getting upgrades each time a new VFP version comes out and using that in addition to all the previous versions. It would be pretty rare for one developer to be physically using two different versions at the same time, but we need to have them installed so we can switch off. This seems perfectly reasonable to me as we're only using one version of what is essentially the same software at a time, so having a current license should cover whatever we are using at that moment. From my understanding of the EULA, this was allowed.

>But now it seems we can no longer do this. If I'm understanding right, once we install VFP 8, if we want to be legal, we need a full version of each version we use? And how are we supposed to do this, considering you can't buy older versions? If we need to use FoxPro 2.6, VFP 5, VFP 6, VFP 7, and VFP 8, do we need 5 copies of VFP 8 per person?! Or if we get 1 full version of VFP 8, will the VFP 7 license we already have still be ok to cover that and all the ones below it? But what happens if we hire someone new that needs multiple versions? It's too late to go back and buy them, and VFP 8 is more expensive than previous versions, so it's not fair to have to pay for VFP 8 to use FoxPro 2.6!

>I hope this gets sorted out soon. And hopefully staying legal won't be prohibitivly expensive when it does. :( I wish MS would consider the fact that not only are there people who don't want to upgrade, there are people who _can't_ upgrade. You'd think just buying the latest version would be enough for them. Now they are trying to force you to use it.
