Sounds like your associations got screwed up some how... Is it an exe file? Or some sort of compressed file? I don't have it handy to look at. If it's an exe and somehow associating with another app, I'm not sure how to fix it... If it's any other sort of file, right click and "open as" and open it with the proper decompresser.
