Fernando,

>What really bothers me is US military leaders (and some leaders that are not using uniforms) come to TV and say they'll do "precise" bombing to avoid (ok, "minimize") civilian casualties.

You know, it bothers me too. And what bothers me is that instead of waging the war the US military leaders are waging peace. I think all this "precise" bombing is not doing the job in scaring Iraqies in surrendering and giving up the fight.

>Imagine a squadron of B-52s flying at the stratosphere droping tons of bombs each, to reach Bagdahd. They *really* believe they're not killing innocent people?

Do you really believe that the bombs are "dropped"? This is not, after all, 1943. These bombs are released and "guided." And the fact of very minimal casualties of civilians in Bagdad proves that.

But, again, you and I are not seeing this eye-to-eye. We look at precision bombing from different sides. I see it as a hindrance to winning the war. You see it as an excessive force. But when you go to war you have to fight. And fight hard. And try to knock your opponent. Right now the US military is trying to win the public relations war and I don't like it.

I see cars driving through Bagdad during the bombing. What it tells me that they are not afraid of us. And since most of the republican guards are probably hiding behind the civilians, they are not afraid of us either. This is no way to win the war.

It bothers me that right now marines are dying trying to take over a city so that humanitarian aid can be brought to Iraqies.

>PS. Just curious, are you from East Europe? (I admire people from East Europe, wouldn't be a surprise to me if you are from there)

Yes, I was born and raised in USSR (Ukraine to be more specific). And thank you for your kind words about east europians. In return I will tell you that when I was in Rio about 20 years ago (vacation) I had one of the best times. Beautiful country and nice and beautiful people (especially women <g>).

Respectfully,
Dmitry
