Im my personal and humble opinion, I think these are 'mistakes' but not mistakes due from computer or engineering errors. These types of mistakes typically happen due to poor human intelligence. There are so many intelligence outfits out there inside Iraq and have been for over a year collecting information. To be honest, not all information is reliable and usually is double and triple verified or the verified that the source has provided reliable information in the past that checked out. Chances are, our military received poor information on 'who' was inside those vehicles (not thinking they were civilians) and targeted what they thought to be military targets. So in essence, they hit what they aimed at, but they should never have aimed at that target to begin with. That is the tragedy.

Of course, I am only speaking based on previous experience in the 'old' days...
