IF the server is set up for authentication you will need to supply login credentials to the server to validate that you are indeed allowed to send mail.
This to prevent spam and relay use of mail servers.
A product called SMTP Wizard, an ActiveX control, supports enhanced logins into almost all SMTP servers as long as you supply the credentials in your program.
