The way I do it is bill 1/2 my hourly rate for "flight time" (the time actualy spent in the plane.) This seems fair because the client doesn't get billed for whatever time it takes me to get to and from the airport and passed security and stuff, and unless there is a 2 year old kid screaming in the seat behind me or something generally I can actually get some work done on the plane too. As far as other expenses (meals, hotels, etc) I bill them sepeartly for that. Obviously you need to be reasonable, can't be eating $85 steak dinners every night and sleeping in a $450/night hotel. So far I haven't had any complaints. For overseas stuff I do the same thing, but right now depending upon the destination I might want "hazzard pay"..hahaha

>Just curious as to how many of you charge when you have to travel to the client site. This is if you're charging hourly instead of flat fee.
>Do you charge for the travel time?
>If so, do you charge your full rate or a scaled down rate?
>What about travel across country or out of the country?
