To add to Jim post, of the 5 political parties present at the federal government, 3 of them doesn't support the U.S. position.
I don't know the repartition by provinces, but I know that my province (Quebec) is strongly opposed to war.
The main reason I read for supporting the U.S. is mainly for economic reasons. They fear more about the relationship with the U.S. than the war by itself.
Anyway, what help could we be with our outdated military equipment? We had an old helicopter that crashed on a ship about one month ago. These helicopters need about 30 hours of maintenance for each hour in flight...
>I watched an episode of the Canadian tv show 'The National' last night and it appears there is a lot of dialog going on in the Canadian government regarding the war (just like in the U.S. before it started). I was surprised that many supported the U.S. and want to step in now to back us (Ottawa was mentioned specifically) but others are fighting vehemently to stay out of it. I always understood that almost all of the provinces wanted to stay clear of it entirely.
