I don't think you will ever be able to find something in another field that pays enough. You will have to start at bottom.
I think only way to do something different is to start something on your own. It is hard to wait for someone else in this environment.
I also think it is bad because now they work you like dog in corporate environment. Because they know there are hundreds / thousands who would want your job.
