I believe I understand what you are talking about. I was working with a Paradox database at one time. The more records I got the slower it got. I remember I had to install the Borland Database engine to get the Microsoft ODBC driver to talk to the Paradox tables. I thought the problem was related to the ODBC engine going through the Borland engine was causing the slow down every 3000 records. Due to the time constraints I had to work with the data, I needed a faster way. What I finally did is created a local VFP table and ran a query loop, appending to the local VFP table. This made the process to get the data out faster. I needed 3 key fields, and pulled them at 500 record intervals. I only had 150,000 records. I also did this through SQLEXEC, and saved it locally for the processing time. I'm not sure what will work better for you.
