Thank you for your reply.

Regarding you question, both workareas use tables. That is, I am certain that neither use an explicitly SELECTed cursor. I do not know whether USE AGAIN is, in some relevant sense, a selected cursor.

This issue is quite repeatable for both my manager and me.

One further bit of information. Once the tableupdate of "PatientView" has failed, then closing "PatientPick" has no effect. That is, once the tableupdate fails there is no obvious way to make it then succeed.

If "PatientPick" is closed *prior* to any attempt to do a tableupdate on "PatientView", the tableupdate will be successful.

I really wonder whether the problem is somehow related to some combination of the .DBF being used a second time (i.e. AGAIN), a view where the add/edit on the .DBF actually occurs, table buffering, requerying the view, and finally saving within a transaction.

I am reaching time limits of my ability to research this here at work and will need to get by with a workaround. If anyone has any insight I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks again!

Spence
