RE: This reference you sent me to a FAQ basically told me what I already knew about the control source dropping and all that, but the problem I am having is trying to reference fields from two different tables in the same grid, but the grid object itself only has a property with one controlsource
it is fine until I do an action that tries to "reconstruct" the grid, then it maintains the controlsource for the grid, but looses it on the two fields in the grid from the other table. The big question is how does it work so fine when you first load up, and how do I get it to do that again after the grid object looses it's controlsource as soon as you do anything. That is so annoying, hopefully Microsoft plans to fix that in a future version of VFP.

>I am using a grid with most fields from one table and two fields from another table linked by the primary key in the data environment. I have a drop down box to select search by options, then use the corresponding table and set an index and do a search based on search criteria entered into input text boxes. When I first go in the grid shows up fine, but when i switch to do a search on one of the two fields in the second table, after I put in the criteria and hit the search button which sets the index and searches, those two columns go blank, and if i close that container and then go back in, the whole gird appears blank. What causes this and how do I prevent it?
