You will have to connect to MSDE via ODBC either through remote views or SPT. I use a combination of RV's and SPT to access VFP Database, SQL server, Oracle, or other data stores via ODBC. I assume that you can also use ADO, but I have never done that, so I would be of no help there.

For development, I have SQL server and use enterprise manager when developing and testing.

You get a lot of that back if you have Visual Studio .Net. The Server explorer gives you most of what you need.

This is an update. Sorry, I guess I didn't read far enough. Of course the client will probably not have visual studio installed. This would apply to the developer machine, but it does mean the developer doesn't have to have the full SQL2000 at home.

Alan

I recently found a tool that may help with database management at the client site or if you do not have SQL server. While I have many SQL Server databases deployed, I haven't deployed an MSDE database and as such have not really tested this tool, but it looks promising. It is called DBaMgr and it looks much like Enterprise manager but is designed for MSDE. You can download it at http://www.asql.biz/DbaMgr.shtm
