If you are using VFPOLE DB on the client, the response will be considerably slower over the network. To fix the problem, you can create a web service to interface with the database and run it on the file server, or you could run the VFPOLE DB provider on the file server and access the component remotely. I think option 2 is called Distributed COM, but I'm not certain.
