A repost to signify IMHO m. usage is important from performance point especially in loops based on version you're using (and of course how much iteration you need).

Besides performance it's a saver for hard to catch errors and as Paul pointed out I think a need for blackbox code.
IMHO use m. whenever possible (if you're not a lazy coder like me:)
