One more thing...
With a PDF, any graphics are embedded into the document itself. I'm not sure how to do that with an HTML email; usually the graphics are not mailed, but remain on a webserver somewhere. View the source of an HTML email (such as an MSDN Flash), and you'll see what I mean.
So a PDF wraps it in one tidy package, but because of this the files are bigger than straight HTML.
