I do now, thanks for being patient enough to explain it. When you SQLCONNECT or SQLSTRINGCONNECT, is the connection slow?
After you have connected and you call SQLTABLES, is it slow?
Is it possible, you have several tables/views/fields that VFP just takes a lot of time to hunt through all the records of the database table?
Can you make a seperate copy of the MySQL database, and pack that database container to possibly increase the performance?

Just some idea's.
