Nick;

Concerning the term “inaccurate” from the article, the following is questionable.

Reference to the United States in 1690 and 1745, as “Invading” is not accurate. The United States did not exist until 1776, and would not have existed had the Revolutionary War been lost to the British.

Remember it was the British that attacked what today is called Canada. There was no United States Military until 1776. Also, it was the French who assisted the Colonies to become free to create the United States.

The Invasion of South Korea was June 27, 1950 and not 1949.

There is obviously bias and inaccuracy in this article, which seems to set the theme of the author’s position. This seems to be a he said that she said approach to a question with nationalistic overtones and selective inaccuracies. The complexity of the issue of French/British influence in Canada makes it more interesting. Rather than mention that bit of reality, the “United States” is chosen as the topic of who the real invader of Canada was.

As for the war of 1812, the British attacked the United States. Remember the burning of Washington D.C. and our nations capitol? A minor event! And who “owned” Canada at that time? Why jolly old England. There was not a country called Canada in 1812! Just remember what the United States did to the Brits in Louisiana, at the Battle of New Orleans!

I am glad that the United States has always been the primary security threat to Canada. With that bit of news Canadians should rest well. :)
