While it is an excellent article (and maybe history lesson) and I support our government's position on this war (they won't call it illegal, I don't think, but I do), I find its purpose debateable.
It ignores the derogatory comments made by a few senior government Members of Parliament about America, Americans and President Bush. It does mention that President Bush failed to 'thank Canada' for its immediate 9/11 aftermath contributions but I personally always cringe in embarrassment when I hear criticism like that (and we cry often about such picayune omissions).
I would rather have the Ambassador tell it like it is than to go on pretending that all is well between us when it is not! If we feel, as the article states at the end and with which I agree, that a true friend should state the truth regardless, then he was only doing what we say we are doing!
