Various reasons could occur. Some have merged into generic user groups such as Developers User Group of City. Some leaders, after a few years, decided to let it go and no one could have taken the follow up. Some just dissappear because of a lack of attendees which could be caused for various reasons such as too many information available on the Internet now. In Montreal, all user groups are running well. We have a VFP user group, a .NET user group, a VS user group and a SQL Server user group.
