Yes, but what about the type of manager who thinks that he's 'managing the project' by coming over and asking "So, how's it coming along?" 3 or 4 times a day. Wouldn't you just love to be able to say, "Well, I've written 4,268 lines of code so far, and by my best estimate, I figure I probably have about another 8,943 lines to go - give or take 7 lines)."

Then he can report that up the line, and everyone will feel like they've done something useful.
