If I can make the assumption that that is what you are referring to, then no, I don't consider this to be a use. If I want to highlight one field, I'll change the back color of that field or of the column, but not of the entire grid.

Anyway I had thought you meant a single column, not the grid ... should have read more carefully. Now looking back I see that you were talking about the entire grid. I can't think of a reason for adding backcolor to an entire grid other than esthetics.

I hadn't figured out 'til now how you all manage to keep the thread on your responses. I cut and pasted to include yours from before. I guess I supposed that if you respond to a posting that implied that your response was directed at that posting. Always learning ...
