Expanding a little on George's response, you can weigh an MSDN professional upgrade price of $899 vs a VFP8 full version of $549. (US) I suppose it also depends on how near is "near" for you. This comparison is on the level because you get the full version of VFP8 with MSDN and you qualify for MSDN professional upgrade pricing with your current copy of VFP.
