Thanks for the info. I've only developed with MS Sql Server for web sites. It sounds like MSDE might not be the solution for a few reasons (from http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/sysreqs/2000/default.asp):

1. I don't see that it runs on Win95 under Operating Systems but see it listed under Other Devices (??)
2. Requires 128 MB for Windows XP; 64 MB for Windows 2000; 32 MB for other operating systems
3. Requires 44 MB of free space and from the Wiki link, adds 60 MB to the install.
4. Requires IE5 (is this true?)

Nevertheless, its an interesting idea. Is it a bear to set up and keep running on an end-user pc? I'm thinking from a tech support standpoint. I handle the tech support too and don't relish the idea of tons of problems!

Thanks again,

Sally

>>Can you explain further what you mean by MSDE? Development environment? The software is sold all over the world to potentially anyone with any kind of pc. We only specify that they have to have Windows of some flavor and 32 MB RAM, 10MB disk space free. I'd like to minimize the amount of code I write so it can ideally be transported to any of the platforms.
