Some suggetions:

1) Are VB6 closing the text file? (something like FClose - sorry I don't know nothing about VB) :-)

2) Did you try put GETFILE() to find this file? Because you said that Explorer can see the file... so GETFILE should see it too... Put the result in a variable.

3) If step 2 works fine (It will return the full path of this file), the function FILE() returns .F.? ... If yes... we have a serious problem.
