>>F4.2 is small - that means several things. The flash has to be brighter so red eye is more likely and it hurts the battery life. It normally means the camera will have a hard time focusing, but this one is fixed focus. Auto focus cameras will give a better look, but I would rather have fixed focus instead of unfocused.

That's bad, but to be honest I don't know if that's standard for that price range. I suspect it is not because of the small size. How important that is depends on how often you want to take photos in dark places.

Now the best lens in the world is your eyes. The range of light it can adjust to is amazing. There are people who think they are not in low light because their eyes adjusted so well but they are. It's probably a good thing that the model is fixed focus - if what you're wanting is flash shots indoors.

I'd keep an eye on the web site http://www.steves-digicams.com
He hasn't reviewed that camera yet, but I'm sure he will. Some of the other new Casio models were there.

All of this is assuming you are talking about the model EX-S2 based on the description you gave earlier.

I just looked at the sample shots large on Casios' web site and I didn't think it was too good for scenery type shots. In fact I'm surprised that they even posted the one second from the right. It down right stinks. That's mostly due to the fixed focus. But the photo of the girls close up looked great. I would think that someone valuing the super small size would lean towards those type of shots.

What kind of shots do you think you'll take mostly?
