>You should be getting a value if the stored procedure performs an UPDATE, INSERT or DELETE, -1 is returned for any other statements. Is it possible you have a SELECT statement there after the UPDATE statement?

Thanks, you got me on the right track. I had a SET NOCOUNT ON in my SP and that was what trashed the value.
