I'm finally making the jump to .Net. I've been learning the IDE, and writing some basic stuff in C#.

I'm running into a couple of issues, and I was hoping people could give me some guidance:
1) Installing IIS. Do I need this installed to use ASP.Net? If so, can I install it on WinXP? If not, what would I use in it's place. Also, never installed it before - any advice on installing. I've got a couple of books, but they all assume that I have IIS installed.

2) MSDN. I'm having a real hard time navigating around .Net in MSDN. It's pretty overwhelming the quantity of material. I'm just looking for some good sample applications. I'm finding information about the sample applications, but I haven't been able to actually find the source code. Any thoughts as to where to find the source, and which are the best samples to learn from?
