That's because it is metric, and that is it's too simple, let alone the metric system was invented by French! But don't feel alone, US has company in this - Liberia and Mianmar. ;) You can safely assume, after almost 10 years of fighting inches, feet, miles, etc., I'm still not sure how tall 6'7" is :)
