>>I have set an EPSON DFX-5000 on a Windows 2000 server. It use to be very fast under UNIX with a character base application that was just sending straight text to the printer without any particular fonts. Now, it is very slow. It takes whatever fonts and it is slow. I tried to configure it as a generic text but I get the same. When I will print from FOX via the report generator, will I be able to be fast ?

When you go in to Page Setup and say use Generic Text then when you pick a font you should only get 3 or 4 choices. They are usally called "Device Font xxcpi" If we only use one of these fonts and no other fonts, we even set the default font to it, the report prints quickly.

Thanks Chuck,

I tried that and yes it worked. But the only thing is that whatever I put as font in the report writer (Device Font 10cpi, 12cpi or 17cpi), the output is not changed. It takes only the manual setup set on the printer pannel (10,12 or 17). Is there something to set to tell the printer to obey me instead of the printer pannel ?

Thanks again
